Carreras celebrates June’s Birthstone, Pearls, with many Pearl Promotions – (please see “Carreras is Pearlicious” post for details) and by sharing our knowledge of the  jewel that has fascinated people for thousands of years.  

The Birth of Venus, c. 1492 , the goddess of love was identified with the creation of the pearl. The pearl was considered the first gift of Aphrodite aka Venus. When she was born she also gave birth to pearls- when she stepped from a large oyster shell, born from the sea, drops of water cascaded from her body and were transformed into glittering pearls.

Pearls were gifts of the gods and revered for their radiant light and believed to have magical powers of charm and grace.

Pearls represent ideal natural beauty and are jewels of happiness.
