SHIPPING

We offer complimentary standard shipping on all items, with expedited shipping available for an additional charge.  Please be assured that your item(s) will ship out within one business day of purchase (Friday and Saturday purchases will ship on Mondays), excluding holidays. We determine the most efficient shipping carrier for your order (U.S. Postal Service-USPS or Federal Express). We will not ship to P.O. Boxes or to addresses outside the U.S.

RETURNS & CANCELLATIONS

We guarantee your complete satisfaction. If you are unhappy for any reason with your purchase, you must return the item in its original condition within 30 days. Please contact us via email or phone for specific return instructions. Once the item has been returned, we will issue a full refund of the purchase price (less any expedited shipping costs). Worn or damaged items cannot be accepted for refund unless deemed to be defective.

Please fully insure your items when shipping back to us. We are not responsible for packages lost or damaged during the return process.

You may cancel your order within 24 hours of placement. If you wish to cancel an order, please contact us immediately. If your order has already been shipped, the normal return and refund policies will apply.

PAYMENT

All payments must be made at time of purchase and are made subject to acceptance by you or the site’s terms and conditions.

All prices quoted on this website are in U.S. Dollars, and payments must be made as such. Sales tax at the rate of 6.0% will be added to any purchase shipped within the Commonwealth of Virginia.

AVAILABILITY

We make every effort to update our website with the latest stock availability; however, because all the items shown are also available in our physical store, we cannot absolutely guarantee that an item will be available when ordered online. Changes will be shown on the web site as soon as possible. In the event that the item you ordered is not available, we will contact you to offer you alternatives or to provide you with the opportunity to cancel your order.

If you are unable to locate a certain item that caught your attention on a previous visit to our website or if you have any questions concerning the availability of a particular item, please contact us.

We make every reasonable effort to display our merchandise on CarrerasJewelers.com as accurately as possible. Unfortunately, various factors, including display and color capabilities, may affect what you actually see on your screen.

We will use reasonable efforts to include accurate and current information on the site, but there may be occasions when information on the site contains typographical errors or omissions within product information.  We will correct any known errors as soon as possible.

Unless otherwise stated, all gemstones are graded and evaluated in their mountings to the maximum extent that the mounting permits. Approximate weights are formulated by taking measurements and applying acceptable formulas; as such they are estimates only. Exact determination of color, clarity and proportions may be prevented by certain types of mountings. Unless otherwise stated, all color gemstones and pearls are assumed to be subject to a relatively stable and possibly undetected color or clarity enhancement.

Major diamonds are graded with the use of pre-graded permanent master diamonds color comparison stones and the grading nomenclature prescribed by the GIA.. Small fancy, round, full and single, and baguette cut diamonds (melee) are evaluated according to their approximate weights and average quality grades using Gemological Institute of America (GIA) grading scale. Colored Gemstones are graded using the GIA prescribed colored stones grading system and nomenclature.

Authenticity, antiquity, decorative periods, vintages and or circa dating are determined to the best of our ability based on materials used, methods of manufacture, design, hallmarks and signatures, lapidary techniques, technological developments and reference consultation. Dating and period attributions are not an exact science as decorative periods frequently overlap and borrow influences from one another.

ESTATE ITEMS DISCLAIMER

Throughout our site, you will see the term “estate” used in titles and descriptions of jewelry items.  While “estate” is often interpreted as meaning “old” or “vintage”, the term simply means previously-owned.  If it can be determined, we will list the approximate style period of items (Art Deco, Edwardian, etc.).   An item that is just described as “estate” is usually a contemporary style, and generally of similar quality to those items we carry in our new collections.

When considering one of Carreras’ estate items, there are a few things to keep in mind:

  • We cannot know the complete history of the piece…its exact age, how it was worn, or any modifications that have been made since its manufacture if undetectable upon inspection.
  • An estate item by definition is “used” and thus will logically have some wear.  When warranted, necessary repairs are done before an item is made available in-store or on the site.  We cannot guarantee that a piece will or will not need future repairs, nor can we be responsible for “unknown” work that was done previously.  Sometimes a repair, if not done correctly, may devalue a period piece, or the work may be cost prohibitive; in these instances,  repairs will not be made.
  • Many estate pieces have parts that are not original to the piece.  We may or may not be able to detect these small differences.
  • Unless otherwise stated, the weights, sizes, colors and other grading factors of gemstones are estimated, being determined insofar as the piece allows.
  • We do our best to authenticate manufacturer/designer markings.  If you have any questions about the validity of a certain designer item, please contact us.
  • Vintage style periods are determined to the best of our ability, but because styles tend to overlap and “borrow” from each other, there aren’t hard-and-fast rules dictating the periods.
